About

SOHAS is a registered charity (no.1085464) that was established in 1980.  We are based in Sheffield.  Our main objective is to provide support and advice for people whose health is affected by their work and to help and support them to keep their job. Our work is funded by Sheffield City Council, Sheffield IAPT, Sheffield Carers Centre and National Lottery Awards for All.  The service we provide is free and confidential and is accessible for anyone who lives and works in Sheffield.

The main aim of SOHAS is to keep people in work. We work with GP’s, clinicians and employers to ensure that people are given practical and common sense advice and support to keep them in work.

We have a new service available for employers.

Do you have an employee who is off sick from work or struggling with a workplace health issue affected by a health problem while at work?

We can work with employers and their employees in South Yorkshire to produce an occupational health report that provides advice, support and practical solutions to keep people healthy and productive at work. We can also follow up with workplace visits and meetings if needed.

We can usually provide an appointment and a report within 10 working days.

The reports we provide are advisory. We are not occupational health physicians or nurses and are not a SEQOHS service.

If you think we could help your organisation, please get in touch.

Appointments to see the advisors are available at our offices or at a GP surgery – the list of GP surgeries that the advisors have sessions at can be found here.

For further details of the service we provide for employees or employers,  please contact us by telephone on (0114) 2755760 or by using the ask an expert tab
